Every year, hundreds of children and young people go missing and become vulnerable to sex-trafficking.
We know this is true because in summer 2025, we used our purpose-built MP Watch tool to systematically match missing persons records in the United States to advertisements on Adult Service Websites (ASWs). These websites are known as venues for the selling of sexual services online.
The findings offered new insights into the sex-trafficking – child welfare nexus. We identified over 700 missing people between the ages of 13-25 being advertised on ASWs and, shockingly, our data showed that 320 of these victims were being advertised before they were reported missing.
